In this week’s segment, Leah and Jennifer continue talking about the importance of a balanced palette and will focus on the Money/Financial element. In these tough economic times, with people being laid off of their jobs, having their hours reduced, and watching their 401-k’s dwindle, money has become an important issue! Most people are being forced to *tighten* their belts. We are clipping coupons, watching what we spend and for many, this is not easy.

The key to surviving these times, according to Jennifer and Leah, is to be proactive when it comes to understanding where you stand financially. “You can’t put your head in the sand like an ostrich,” comments Turner. “It is vital to fully understand what you have and where you are spending it each month….in other words…..make a budget.”

“The scary part,” continues Lee, “is the NOT KNOWING part. That’s why we have brought on a very special guest this week to help us all out.”

Denise Addision of Ibis Financial in Orlando shares some tips on how to make it through these economic times. She will talk about why it is important to understand our financial *habits* in order to have them fit into our balance life vision. She explains why it is vital that you be an educated consumer and understand your options. “You work very hard for your income,” explains Denise, “so don’t let it slip away.”

When it comes to our finances, it is critical that we take control and be proactive. And, as Denise explains, taking the time to plan and set goals is just as important in personal finance as it is in the other areas of our life, such as career, and education.

Have you ever noticed that when your house or office is messy, you tend to feel a little anxious or out of sorts? Or, when your teenagers’ room looks like a bomb hit it, your blood pressure seems to rise? Well, you are not alone, this happens to everyone! There is a direct correlation between our physical environment and how we feel!

In this week’s episode, Leah and Jen talk about the first of the five areas of the Balanced Palette of Life…..your Physical Environment. Your Physical Environment is basically everything physical that surrounds you. Your house, your car, your office, even the clothes you wear! Everything that we surround ourselves with has an enormous impact on our lives.

This week’s special guest is Organizing Expert Kathy Sink, owner of  Accent on Organization. Kathy works with clients on getting their physical environment organized and in balance! Whether she is organizing a home office, a kitchen or a master closet, she sees first hand how a messy or unorganized space creates unbalance in your life. To contact Kathy or get more information on her services, e-mail her at KathySink@aol.comn or call 407-467-2922.

So, in conclusion – why not ask yourself the following questions:

1. Are my personal files, papers, receipts, etc all organized and filed away nicely?

2. Do you surround yourself with the beautiful things you love?

3. Is your home neat and clean?

If you answered NO to any of these questions, you may want to take a closer look at your Physical Environment to see how you can . Working with a Professional organizer of Life Coach may be the answer for you! Remember, your physical house has a direct impact on your emotional house.

Can you imagine an Artist trying to paint a Masterpiece using just one color of paint? It wouldn’t be very vibrant and colorful – would it? Well, if you think about it, in living our lives if we only focused on one or two areas of our life, we wouldn’t be living a truly balanced life, would we? In this week’s episode, Jen and Leah introduce the concept of a Balanced Palette to our listeners.

“We basically have 5 primary areas in our life (or colors on our palette),” explains Leah. “There is  Physical Environment, Money/Financial, Relationships, Health/Emotion and Spiritual. In order to live a well balanced life, we must pay attention to each area.”

“That’s right,” continues Jennifer. “People tend to focus a lot of attention and energy on one or two areas, and neglect some of the others. This is especially true for busy parents! Parents are juggling a lot, and tend to put other’s needs before their own”

Obtaining a balanced palette takes time and practice. You don’t just wake up one morning and exclaim: YEAH! My palette is balanced!

You have to discover which areas in your life you need to focus on, and also realize that all five areas work together to create balance and harmony. For example, if your physical environment is not where it needs to be, chances are this is creating chaos in other areas of your life too.

For the next 6 episodes, Leah and Jennifer will focus on each of the areas of the balanced palette and share with you tips and resources on how to achieve balance in your life. They will also be bringing in local experts who can help you achieve balance in each area as well.

It’s that time of year again, the time of year when we all make those dreaded resolutions! And, what typically happens with those resolutions is that we do not stick to them, and we feel like we have failed. How many of us have resolved to lose those same 15 lbs. for the past 15 years??

In this week’s episode, Jen and Leah talk about why making resolutions just doesn’t work! Typically we make resolutions for the wrong reasons. For most of us, there is no true motivation behind the resolution. If you start by saying: I need to quit smoking or I should lose weight, you probably are not making the decision for the right reason. Resolutions are just short term chores or projects! So instead of resolutions, let’s make life shifts which are long term commitments you make TO and FOR yourself, and will have a  longer effect.

We are not on a diet to lose 15 lbs., we are making a life shift to live in a healthier body! And first and foremost, accept and love yourself and then decide what lift shift you want to make. And then, come up with the action steps needed to get there! Maybe those action steps include drinking 3 glasses of water per day, cutting out that afternoon candy bar, or taking the steps instead of the elevator. And, remember to take little steps instead of giant leaps, you will still get there and are less likely to become overwhelmed. Also, get support in achieving these lift shifts! A Life Coach can help you make these shifts in your life by motivating you, supporting you and holding you accountable in order to attain your goals. So, for 2009, let’s resolve to quit making resolutions and make positive Life Shifts instead!
