Did you know there is a direct correlation between your physical environment and your mental state? Jen and Leah have discussed this in past episodes when explaining the Balanced Palette theory. This week they take it one step further and introduce you to the concept of Pyramid Feng Shui.

Pyramid Feng Shui is a contemporary western adaptation of ancient Chinese Feng Shui, integrating biology, psychology, cultural anthropology, physics and other environmental considerations to assess how an individual experiences their environment.   Pyramid Feng Shui also places the individual at the center of the process by using a customized approach that takes into account the culture, beliefs, and design preferences of the client.

Special guest on this show this week is Carolyn Thomas, a certified Pyramid Feng Shui consultant and owner of Feng Shui ArQitect.

Carolyn’s business focuses on empowering the Individual through the collective use of Intentional Design within Home and Business spaces to ensure more focused attainment of life and business goals.

Pyramid Feng Shui practitioners identify the many influences of the person-place connection and create recommendations for long-lasting, sustainable change, achievement of goals, and support of positive living.

Carolyn gives us some practical, easy steps to start incorporating the Pyramid Feng Shui into our lives, specifically targeted towards families. For example, did you know that the shape of your dining room table can have a direct impact on how your teenage children respond to you?

“Pyramid Feng Shui is all about taking control of your environment,” explains Carolyn. “And, it is about using what you already have in your home or business space and moving it around to create the desired effect. You do not need to go out and BUY more things.”

Carolyn is also working on a new book – Change your Sheets, Change Your Love Life, which focuses on the placement of certain items in the bedroom and how that affects your relationships. This week’s podcast is one you won’t want to miss!

Coaching has become very popular over the past couple years! There are several reasons for this. On this week’s show Jen and Leah talk about COACHING: what it is, why it has become so popular, and most importantly why it works! Coaching is all about self discovery and action! In order to take action in our lives, we must be clear on what it is that we want!

They introduce the concept of the 4 P’s to living a proactive life, filled with passion, purpose and inspiration! Everyday you have the choice to make this your best day ever! By incorporating the 4 P’s into you life, you are beginning to make the life shift towards becoming the Artist of YOUR Life!

PASSION – Do you know what your passion in life is? Are you living your passion? When you passion and your path meet, you will discover your true purpose!

PERSPECTIVE – Is the glass half empty or half full? Is this year going to be your best year ever? How do you look at your life? We can’t control so many things in the world, but we can control the most important things….our thoughts, our words and our actions!

PERSEVERANCE – When life knocks you down, do you get back up again easily? Your attitude is a big part of this. Start to identify those things in you life that bring you down, and replace them with positive things! Quit starting your day listening to the news if it depresses you! This is your life, your journey!

PARTNERING: Pay it Forward! We all feel better about ourselves and our lives when we give back to others. Do you make time in your busy life to do this? Not only are you helping out those less fortunate than you, but you are gaining a strong sense of purpose in the process.

Last week Jen and Leah talked about the importance of setting boundaries in your life. Well, just like peanut butter needs jelly, Boundaries need Standards. This week Jan and Leah introduce the coaching concept of Raising Your Standards. Whereas boundaries are what others can no longer do to you, standards are the behaviors that YOU hold yourself accountable to. The higher your standards the better your life!

One way to get very clear on what types of standards you find important, is to identify and write down a list 10 people that you admire. And then next to person’s name, identify the qualities that you admire about that person. Those qualities are likely to be the standards that you identify with and want to build your life around. Everyone has their own unique set of standards. One standard you might have is that you do not gossip or hang around negative people. Once you identify that standard, you may find you have to make some life changes in order to meet that standard. For example, you may need to communicate this standard to family and friends that are negative or gossip.

I like to compare raising standards with climbing a ladder. Each step that you take up to the next rung is elevating you higher and higher to your destination! As you continue to climb upwards, you keep focusing on what is ahead of you….you don’t continually turn around to look down to see where you have been.

So, think about it. What are your current standards? Could they use some raising?

What is a boundary? Why is it important that YOU set boundaries in your life? These are just some of the questions that Leah and Jennifer will answer on this week’s podcast!

Setting Boundaries are imperative for living a proactive life! Boundaries are needed in your life so that you have the room (mental and physical) to grow and evolve into the person you were meant to be. Boundaries are the invisible lines that we draw around ourselves that protect us! For example, most people that have dogs have fenced-in yards. The reason they do so it to keep the dog safe from intruders, other dogs, and busy streets. It gives the dog a territory to call their own, and allows them to roam and play safely. The fenced-in yard represents the dog’s boundary.

The same is true with humans! In coaching, boundaries represent what you are no longer going to allow others to do to you. It is your invisible fencing around your life that serves to protect and nurture you as you grow. The larger the boundaries; the better your life! When we extend the boundaries in our lives, we are honoring and respecting our space, our time, our money, our energy and our self worth! We are also living our lives proactively, with passion and purpose!

Start thinking about what YOUR Boundaries are. For starters, you could come up with a list of 10 things that others can no longer do to you. For example, my kids can no  longer automatically expect that I will drop everything I am doing to drive them to a friend’s house. Or, I will no longer allow my co-workers to volunteer me for every committee that is created. When we start setting boundaries, we start standing up for ourselves and our actions! Get support from friends and family when setting boundaries. Chances are they will be extremely supportive in your endeavor to live a purposeful, proactive life!
